A bit of history
Bancarel is a typical example of what can be described as “industrial craftsmanship.” The company is built on a strong artisanal know-how that it has, over time, successfully developed on an industrial scale. This expertise is what today makes Bancarel’s success and pride.
At the origin of this success was one man: Adrien Bancarel. In the 1960s, Adrien Bancarel was a saddler, upholsterer, and trimmer. At the time, he worked alone before later taking on an apprentice and then a worker. Very quickly, thanks to his widely recognized and appreciated skills, orders increased significantly. The small workshop grew rapidly.
From 1973 onwards, he decided to partner with his son Daniel, who spent his first year training under his father. Daniel Bancarel then took over the management of the workshop, while his father focused more on administrative and commercial activities. At that time, sales were mainly made in the Aveyron region and surrounding departments, directly with customers in contact with the business owner.
In 1976, Mr. Bancarel hired his first sales representative, which significantly boosted the company’s development, allowing it to grow steadily and continuously. Bancarel became a well-known and respected brand in the automotive world. The company continued to relocate in order to acquire increasingly larger premises.
On January 1st, 1982, Messrs. Bancarel, father and son, together with the workshop manager, established a limited liability company (SARL). That same year, in order to stay closer to both customers and production, the company invested in computer equipment. In addition, the company regularly attended major automotive trade shows in Paris to increase its international visibility. The rise in production and the acquisition of new machinery once again created space constraints. In January 1988, the company moved into new, spacious, and functional premises.
In December 1988, the share capital increased to 1,400,000 francs (€213,430). Gradually, the sales network expanded across the whole of France. The SARL also developed a customer base in overseas territories as well as abroad.
In 2000, due to the advanced age of its main manager and founder, Mr. Adrien Bancarel, he retired, and the family business changed ownership and was acquired by Mr. Pierre-Georges Pelofi.
In 2002, Bancarel became a simplified joint-stock company (SAS) with a share capital of €1,220,000, with Pierre-Georges Pelofi as CEO. Thanks to the tools and commercial initiatives implemented by Mr. Pelofi, Bancarel experienced even stronger growth. The company began manufacturing custom-made floor mats and automotive accessories, as well as universal seat covers.
In 2005, Bancarel increasingly worked with vehicle manufacturers such as Pilote, as well as industrial clients for special orders (covers for industrial use or upholstery for public facilities, etc.).
In 2008, Bancarel launched its first website. That same year, the company leveraged its expertise to enter the market of custom-made seat covers for motorhome seats and bench seats.
From 2009 onwards, Bancarel positioned itself as the leader and specialist in motorhome seat covers.
In 2010, the company entered the marine industry.
In 2017, BANCAREL GROUPE acquired LSp La Sellerie Professionnelle.
